We are assisting our client, a reputable and dynamic midsized commercial construction company based in Annapolis Junction, Maryland. As they continue to grow, the client is seeking a dedicated Human Resources Assistant to join the team and support the HR department in various administrative tasks and initiatives.

Job Description:

Position Overview: The Human Resources Assistant will play a crucial role in supporting the day-to-day operations of the HR department. This position requires a detail-oriented individual with exceptional organizational skills, strong communication abilities, and a proactive approach to tasks. The successful candidate will assist in various HR functions, including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, and administrative tasks.

Responsibilities:

1.) Assist in recruitment efforts by posting job openings, reviewing resumes, scheduling interviews, and conducting initial screenings of candidates.

2.) Coordinate the onboarding process for new hires, including preparing new hire paperwork, conducting orientations, and facilitating training sessions as needed.

3.) Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records in the HRIS (Human Resources Information System) database.

4.) Assist in administering employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and other employee perks.

5.) Support employee relations initiatives by addressing employee inquiries, concerns, and requests in a timely and professional manner.

6.) Assist with the coordination of employee events, meetings, and training programs.

7.) Prepare HR-related reports and presentations as requested by management.

8.) Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.

9.) Provide general administrative support to the HR department, including filing, data entry, and document preparation.

10.) Perform other duties and special projects as assigned by the HR Manager or Director.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  2. Previous experience in an HR administrative role or internship is a plus.
  3. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and HRIS software.
  4. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively and professionally with employees at all levels.
  5. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  6. Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and integrity.
  7. Proactive mindset with the ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  8. Knowledge of employment laws and regulations is desirable along with any Payroll experience and employee relations experience.
  9. A team player with a positive attitude and willingness to learn and grow within the HR field.
