Position Overview
A well-established commercial construction firm is seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee projects from pre-construction through final completion. This role is responsible for coordinating project activities, managing budgets and schedules, maintaining client relationships, and ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to high quality standards.
The ideal candidate is a proactive leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment, communicates effectively with internal and external stakeholders, and can successfully manage multiple projects simultaneously. Please note - This role is not an IT opportunity, commercial construction experience is required.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage commercial construction projects from planning through closeout
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, architects, subcontractors, and field teams
- Review blueprints, specifications, and construction documents
- Develop and maintain project schedules and budgets
- Prepare estimates for project costs, self-performed work, and change orders
- Coordinate subcontractor and vendor selection, negotiations, and contract management
- Review and process RFIs, submittals, change requests, billing, and project documentation
- Lead project meetings and provide regular updates to stakeholders
- Monitor project progress, identify risks, and implement solutions proactively
- Support quality control efforts, punch list completion, and project closeout activities
- Ensure compliance with safety standards, company procedures, and contract requirements
- Collaborate with leadership teams on contract negotiations and operational planning
- Assist with mentoring junior team members and supporting team development initiatives
Qualifications
- 3-5+ years of experience in commercial construction project management or related field
- Strong understanding of commercial construction processes, materials, scheduling, and budgeting
- Experience managing subcontractors, vendors, and client relationships
- Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, and technical documents
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and organizational skills
- Strong problem-solving abilities and sound decision-making skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in deadline-driven environments
- Proven leadership skills with a collaborative, team-oriented approach
Technical Skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and Project
- Experience with construction management and document control software preferred
- Familiarity with Bluebeam or similar plan/document review tools is a plus
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Combination of office and construction site environments
- Frequent sitting, standing, walking, and computer use
- Occasional lifting of materials or equipment up to 25 pounds
- Ability to navigate active construction sites safely
