Job Title: CNC Machinist - 5-Axis Vertical Milling


Position Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled CNC Machinist with hands-on experience operating and programming 5-axis vertical milling machines. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of precision machining, tooling, and quality standards to produce complex components for [industry, e.g., aerospace, medical, automotive].


Key Responsibilities

  • Set up, operate, and maintain 5-axis CNC vertical milling machines to produce precision parts according to engineering specifications.
  • Interpret blueprints, CAD models, and GD&T requirements to ensure accurate machining.
  • Perform machine offsets, tool changes, and adjustments to maintain tolerances.
  • Utilize CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, Siemens NX, or similar) for programming and toolpath optimization.
  • Inspect finished parts using precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, CMM).
  • Troubleshoot machining issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment in compliance with company and OSHA standards.
  • Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to improve processes and reduce cycle times.

Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum 3-5 years operating and programming 5-axis CNC vertical mills.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in G-code, CAM software, and CNC controls (e.g., Fanuc, Heidenhain).
  • Strong knowledge of materials (aluminum, stainless steel, titanium, etc.) and cutting tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and GD&T.
  • Familiarity with precision measuring tools and inspection techniques.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Preferred

  • Experience in [specific industry, e.g., aerospace or medical device manufacturing].
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Standing for extended periods.
  • Manual dexterity for handling tools and parts.
