Mechanical Estimator - Mid-Level
Overview:
Our client is seeking a skilled Mechanical Estimator to join their preconstruction team. This mid-level role is ideal for professionals with a strong background in estimating HVAC, plumbing, and piping systems for commercial and industrial projects. The successful candidate will play a key role in developing accurate cost projections and supporting proposal efforts from concept through final bid.
Key Responsibilities:
* Develop detailed cost estimates for mechanical systems including labor, materials, and equipment.
* Create conceptual budgets using historical data and engineering principles when full design documents are unavailable.
* Analyze project drawings and specifications to determine scope and identify potential risks or value engineering opportunities.
* Collaborate with internal teams and vendors to assess pricing, technical compliance, and bid competitiveness.
* Prepare formal bid proposals and ensure all project updates are reflected in the estimate.
* Maintain organized records of bid documentation and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
* Support project handoff to operations and participate in client meetings as needed.
* Mentor junior estimators and contribute to team development.
Qualifications:
* Minimum of 3 years of experience in mechanical estimating, preferably within the MEP sector.
* Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field preferred.
* Strong understanding of mechanical systems, construction drawings, and estimating software.
* Excellent communication and analytical skills.
