Job Description

The Surgery Center Coordinator is responsible for supporting the scheduling and daily operations of the Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) in compliance with federal, state, and facility policies. This role includes administrative, clerical, and reception duties, ensuring smooth coordination of surgical procedures and maintaining high standards of patient care and confidentiality.

Key Responsibilities
Organize, prepare, and maintain surgical charts in accordance with retention policies.
Collect and input patient data (e.g., name, procedure, date) into surgical forms and EMR systems.
Locate, scan, and manage patient files and records.
Prioritize tasks and assignments efficiently.
Draft and send correspondence and messages accurately and promptly.
Manage patient admissions and verify insurance benefits in collaboration with scheduling staff.
Conduct pre-admission calls to confirm financial arrangements with patients.
Generate admission forms for upcoming surgical cases.
Process payments via cash, check, or credit card.
Ensure timely and accurate distribution of documents.
Prepare charts for the next surgical day and maintain inventory of blank charts with required forms.
Participate in credentialing activities as directed.
Report equipment issues and follow protocols for repair and maintenance.
Perform general administrative tasks including scanning, copying, faxing, sorting, and answering phones.
Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a secure work environment.
Uphold patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations.
Demonstrate commitment to Company's standards of excellence and teamwork.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Education & Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent required; advanced degree preferred.
Minimum 2 years of experience in medical clerical or administrative roles.
Proficiency with standard medical office equipment and EMR systems.
Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and email.
Familiarity with medical terminology.
At least 1 year of experience in appointment scheduling and EMR usage.
Language Skills:

Fluency in English and Spanish required; multilingual abilities a plus.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Certifications (Preferred):

Certified Medical Assistant
BLS Certification or equivalent
Physical Requirements:

Ability to sit for extended periods (up to 8 hours).
Frequent use of hands and arms; repetitive movements.
Occasional standing, walking, and lifting up to 25 lbs.
