Position Overview

Ultimate Staffing Services is seeking a highly organized and detail-driven Bookkeeper with tax experience to support a growing tax resolution firm's casework and financial operations. This role requires a strong background in bookkeeping and a solid understanding of IRS collections, compliance issues, and small business tax requirements. The Bookkeeper plays a key role in maintaining accurate client financial data and assisting with case preparation and resolution strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain internal financial records, including A/R, A/P, and monthly reconciliations.
  • Review and analyze client financial records to assess compliance and assist with case strategy.
  • Reconstruct or clean up client books (especially for small businesses) to support IRS negotiations or tax filings.
  • Create P&L statements and balance sheets for clients.
  • Assist with preparation and review of client tax returns (individual and business), including back tax years.
  • Work closely with Enrolled Agents, CPAs, and attorneys to provide financial summaries for Offer in Compromise (OIC), Installment Agreements (IA), CNC status, and audit representation.
  • Prepare supporting documents such as income/expense reports, bank reconciliations, and Form 433 financial disclosures.
  • Monitor deadlines and maintain organized documentation for each tax resolution case.
  • Ensure compliance with IRS documentation and reporting standards.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in bookkeeping, preferably within a tax, accounting, or tax resolution environment.
  • Proficiency with QuickBooks (Online and Desktop) and Microsoft Excel.
  • Working knowledge of IRS tax forms, including Form 433-A/B/F, 1040, 941, and 1120.
  • Familiarity with tax problem resolution services, such as OIC, payment plans, penalty abatement, and tax liens/levies.
  • Ability to work independently, handle sensitive client information, and meet deadlines.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, confidentiality, and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a tax resolution or tax controversy firm.
  • Experience working with tax resolution software (e.g., Pro Series, Lacerte).
  • Enrolled Agent (EA), CPA, or CTEC/AFSP preferred but not required.

Required Work Hours

Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
