Material Handler

Location: San Diego, CA 92131

Hours: Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm, may have the ability to start earlier

Pay: $20/hr

**Must be able to clear a background check and drug screen

This position reports to the Shipping Supervisor and is responsible for performing all tasks involved with shipping, receiving, storing materials, supplies and equipment.

Job Duties

  • Assembles orders and prepares goods for shipment to include recording and maintaining shipping data.
  • Follow shipping policy and procedures, responsible for preparing UPS, Federal Express and other carrier shipment documents.
  • Follows receiving procedure for incoming materials.
  • Verifies and identifies information and quantities against packing slip and purchase orders; counts items and indicates discrepancies.
  • Enters incoming receipt of materials in database upon completion and verification of physical counts.
  • Reports discrepancies to supervisor.
  • Assists with maintaining accuracy of stockroom inventory.
  • Kits work orders and fills shortages.
  • May perform other duties as assigned by Shipping Supervisor.

Qualifications

  • 1-2 years of experience in shipping & stockroom practices and procedures.
  • Basic reading, writing, and communication in English.
  • Basic knowledge of mathematics, such as adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing.
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs unassisted.
  • Basic computer skills and use of scales - shipping, packing, weighing equipment.
  • A High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
