Job Description

Job Purpose:

The primary purpose of the Assistant Underwriter position is to assist the underwriting team in the underwriting policies on a day to day basis using predetermined authority guidelines and maintain familiarity with all products, services and policyholder priorities within the Underwriting Department.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Assist with all steps of the underwriting process, including but not limited to:
    • Open applications, supplemental applications and increased limits applications
    • Process address changes
    • Review supplemental applications from applicant.
    • Review Renewals.
    • Perform website and bar record reviews.
    • Attention to detail.
  • Customer Service
    • Maintain a high level of professional customer service.
    • Develop and maintains effective business relationships with external policyholders in order to attract and retain business.
    • Request and follow up with additional information requests on all new business needed in the rating and underwriting processes, such as website checks, zip code reviews.
    • Accurately interpret, explains and markets products and services to new and existing policyholders.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree or Higher Education

Proficient in Microsoft Office Products

Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Acrobat Adobe

Knowledge of Property & Casualty Insurance
