Position Summary
The Director of E-commerce and Marketing will lead all facets of the company's direct-to-consumer (DTC) e-commerce and marketing operations. This role is responsible for driving online revenue, enhancing the customer experience, and ensuring excellence in operations. The position encompasses leadership over strategy development and execution across marketing, paid media (PPC, Google Ads), budgeting, inventory planning, SEO/SEM, user experience (UX), email and SMS marketing, website performance, compliance, and data security. The ideal candidate is a strategic, data-driven leader with a strong background in DTC apparel e-commerce, a proven ability to scale digital platforms, and experience managing cross-functional teams and external vendors.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy and Leadership

  • Develop and execute an integrated e-commerce and marketplace strategy to drive growth, customer acquisition, and retention.
  • Lead cross-functional teams spanning marketing, technology, and customer experience, promoting accountability and collaboration.
  • Partner with executive leadership to align e-commerce initiatives with broader company goals and financial targets.
  • Stay current with market trends, competitor activity, and emerging technologies to maintain a competitive edge.

Marketing and Customer Acquisition

  • Oversee all digital marketing efforts, including PPC (Google Ads, Meta Ads), SEO, and SEM, to drive qualified traffic and conversions.
  • Ensure brand consistency across all digital channels, including the website, social media, and marketplace listings.
  • Use performance data and KPIs (e.g., ROAS, CAC, conversion rate) to optimize campaigns and allocate marketing spend efficiently.

Budgeting and Inventory Planning

  • Manage the e-commerce budget, ensuring effective allocation across marketing, technology, and operations.
  • Work with supply chain and operations teams to forecast demand and maintain appropriate inventory levels, especially for seasonal apparel.
  • Track financial performance, including margins and costs, to support profitability and growth.

Website Performance and UX

  • Oversee the company's DTC website (e.g., Shopify or similar), focusing on speed, mobile optimization, and user-friendly navigation.
  • Improve the customer journey by enhancing site UX, checkout flow, and personalization features.
  • Monitor and act on website analytics (e.g., bounce rate, session duration, conversion path) to continuously improve performance.

Compliance and Security

  • Ensure compliance with data privacy laws (e.g., GDPR, CCPA) and uphold industry standards.
  • Implement and manage security protocols, including SSL, secure payment processing, and fraud prevention tools.
  • Coordinate with legal and IT teams to maintain PCI compliance and proactively manage security risks.

Marketplace Management

  • Lead marketplace strategies across platforms such as Amazon and Target, optimizing listings, pricing, and promotional tactics.
  • Monitor performance metrics and adjust approaches to remain competitive in the apparel sector.
  • Manage partnerships with marketplace vendors and ensure adherence to platform guidelines.

Technology and Integrations

  • Oversee integration and optimization of digital tools (e.g., CRM, analytics platforms, personalization engines).
  • Collaborate with technical teams to resolve issues, deploy enhancements, and maintain site functionality.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies to enhance operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, E-commerce, or related field.

Experience

  • 4+ years of experience in e-commerce, including 2+ years in a leadership role within the DTC apparel or fashion industry.
  • Demonstrated success in scaling DTC websites and marketplace channels.
  • Expertise in digital marketing, email/SMS campaigns, and UX optimization.
  • Experience with budget management, inventory forecasting, and cross-functional team leadership.

Skills

  • Strong analytical abilities; proficiency in tools such as Google Analytics, Shopify, Klaviyo, and major ad platforms.
  • Deep knowledge of e-commerce site optimization, compliance, and security.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills for managing internal teams and third-party partners.
  • Data-driven approach focused on ROI and customer satisfaction.

Preferred

  • Experience managing apparel sales on marketplaces (e.g., Amazon, Target).
  • Familiarity with inventory management systems and supply chain processes.
