Our client, a Nationwide food manufacturer, is seeking a Plant Controller.
Reporting to the Director of Manufacturing Finance, this role will be based in Madison Heights, MI and act as the business partner between Plant Operations and Finance.
Essential duties and responsibilities include:
Serve as Business Partner to Plant Director as well as Manufacturing Leadership team, including Engineering, Quality, Safety, and Logistics
Responsible for Operations Finance at key manufacturing plant
Assist in development and monitoring of inventory and cost accounting policies and controls
Develop and update standard costs, including accurate annual allocation methods
Analyze production variances, identify root causes, and make recommendations to management
Analyze cycle count and physical inventory variances and make recommendations to management
Provide cost modeling for business cases, including capital requests, new product development, and growth opportunities
Participate in the S&OP process, providing input on product profitability, plant throughput, and financial impacts of business decisions
Participate in forecast and budget processes, gathering input from operations and communicating changes to leadership
Participate in month-end close, including freight accruals, excess and obsolete inventory reserves, purchase price variance analysis, monthly budget and forecast variance analysis
Track and report plant performance on key KPIs, including throughput, schedule attainment, yield, scrap and labor efficiency
Compile and deliver monthly Operations Period Review deck to operations leaders
Qualifications and experience:
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field
5-10+ years of relevant experience in cost accounting, manufacturing finance, planning, and analysis
CPG / Food industry experience preferred
Exposure to annual budgeting, forecasting, and month-end close processes
Strong accounting, financial reporting, and financial statement analysis skills
Advanced knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint, ERP systems and financial modeling
Strong work ethic, judgement, diplomacy, and collaboration skills
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Working knowledge of SAP and/or SAGE X3 a plus
