Our Special Collections Department is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Paralegal to join our team. The primary focus of this role is to conduct research, identify and locate defendants, prepare and file tax warrants, lawsuits, and client reports, as well as make collection phone calls to recover delinquent tax accounts. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, excellent written and verbal communication, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced legal environment.
This position requires proficiency in legal research, document preparation, and case management, as well as the ability to collaborate with various stakeholders, including court clerks, constables, banks, and firm clients. The paralegal will also be responsible for managing case files, updating legal databases, and ensuring compliance with all procedural requirements.
Additionally, this role includes making proactive collection calls to delinquent taxpayers in an effort to negotiate and secure payments. The ability to communicate professionally and persuasively with individuals and businesses is essential.
Successful candidates will be self-motivated, able to multitask efficiently, and work independently with minimal supervision. Prior experience in a legal setting, particularly in tax collections or litigation support, is preferred.
Position Details:

  • Salary: $37,440 per year ($18 per hour)
  • Schedule: 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM
Important Information:
  • This position requires 50% travel by vehicle.
  • A valid driver's license is required.
  • An MVR background check is required; candidates must have a clean driving record.
    • If the hiring agency provides car insurance coverage during the contracting phase, candidates may begin driving upon completion of training.
    • If the agency does not provide car insurance coverage, candidates will not be required to drive until they transition to a regular employee of the firm.
    • Candidates will not be disqualified from consideration based on agency-provided insurance coverage.
