Job Description

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Bookkeeper to manage day-to-day financial operations, payroll processing, and office administration support. The ideal candidate will bring strong accounting knowledge, experience with payroll compliance (including Prevailing Wage), and proficiency in QuickBooks and Microsoft Office. Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform daily bookkeeping duties including A/P, A/R, bank reconciliations, and cash receipts posting.

  • Process bi-weekly payroll, including time card verification, overtime calculations, bonus/commission processing, and final paychecks according to California laws.

  • Maintain and update payroll and employee data (new hires, terminations, wage changes, deductions).

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations, focusing on California Prevailing Wage requirements.

  • Prepare and file quarterly and annual payroll tax reports.

  • Reconcile monthly bank and credit card statements.

  • Assist with employee onboarding, benefits administration, and Workers Compensation reporting.

  • Support audits by providing necessary reports and documentation.

  • Maintain confidentiality and accuracy across all financial and HR records.


Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in bookkeeping, payroll, and administrative support.

  • Proficient in QuickBooks and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).

  • Experience with HRIS systems such as UKG Ready, Kronos, or Paylocity preferred.

  • Knowledge of California payroll compliance and Prevailing Wage payroll processing.

  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management skills.

  • Notary Public certification preferred, but not required.
