Position: Buyer

Company Overview: Join a leading distributor of household electronics, dedicated to providing innovative products to major retail partners. This organization is focused on enhancing customer satisfaction through quality offerings and strategic vendor partnerships.

Role Summary: We are seeking a skilled Buyer to manage product procurement, ensuring alignment with inventory requirements and sales forecasts. This role involves nurturing vendor relationships and collaborating closely with the Key Account Sales Manager team to explore and onboard new supplier accounts. A successful candidate will excel in negotiation and communication, both with external vendors and internal teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategically forecast and purchase products that align with customer needs while meeting cost, quality, and delivery objectives. Responsibilities include:
    • Managing volume rebates (monthly, quarterly, yearly)
    • Securing cash discounts and optimizing payment terms
    • Driving growth incentives
    • Allocating co-op advertising funds and planning marketing initiatives
  • Negotiate and oversee vendor contracts to ensure compliance with terms, while assessing the need for contract modifications.
  • Analyze product trends and turnover rates to inform purchasing decisions.
  • Collaborate with the Key Account Sales Manager team to develop and propose vendor programs aimed at maximizing margins by product line.
  • Monitor inventory levels through suggested order reports, ensuring timely replenishment.
  • Work with Warehouse and Operations teams to manage monthly inventory adjustments.
  • Oversee the product return process for assigned vendors.
  • Maintain inventory for all designated vendors and facilitate order placements.
  • Conduct sales and margin analysis on assigned product lines.
  • Play a crucial role in inventory control, particularly for discontinued items and slow-moving products.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in buying for a distributor or online retailer.
  • Familiarity with forecasting and purchase order systems, with experience in major ERP systems (Microsoft Dynamics ERP is a plus).
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects independently with minimal supervision.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills; professional articulation in business interactions.
  • Strong negotiation abilities.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and efficiency.
