Pay: Up to $29.72

Our client, a well established financial services/insurance company, is investing in bright, agile and diverse talent to contribute to our mission of innovating our business and creating a superior customer experience. We're actively seeking a talented a Senior Accounting Specialist II to join our the Reconciliation Center of Excellence in Newport Beach, CA. This role can be on-site, hybrid, or 100% remote.

As a Senior Accounting Specialist II on the Reconciliation Center of Excellence (COE) team, you'll play a key role in the company's growth and long-term success by performing balance sheet account reconciliations that are critical control measures, which minimizes exposer to financial and operational risks, and aides in accurate financial reporting. You will fill an existing role that sits on a team of 9 people in the Corporate division.

How you will make an impact:
* As a Senior Accounting Specialist II within the Reconciliation COE team, your responsibilities would include but not limited to, perform balance sheet account reconciliations, reconcile daily contract-related payments/withholdings submitted by Operations; perform analysis and timely resolution of discrepancies, identify and perform balance sheet reclasses to clear variances between suspense accounts. Work collaboratively, and effectively communicate out of balances with Operations and other Accounting teams , perform monthly close procedures as part of the monthly close process .
* Responsible for tracking daily/weekly status of outstanding items, to include reporting to management items aged over 90 days, and high dollar amounts still outstanding.  Assist in the preparation of the aging report for all aged balances for Reconciliation COE management review.   Escalate to management any issues with risk of financial exposure and make recommendations to management to mitigate risk.
* Interface with Corporate and Divisional Accounting Teams, Treasury, the Tax department and various Operational teams, who sit within the Divisions, responsible for processing and/or recording transactions to the general ledger. 
* Maintain effective internal controls and report any issues as discovered. 
* Be innovative in leading process improvements.
* Provide audit support to external auditors.

The experience you will bring:
* 4-year degree or equivalent experience in accounting or a related field; or, (5) years professional accounting experience
* Team player, initiative, ability to take on tasks with minimal guidance, communication
* Possess excellent oral and written communication skills 

  • Strong technical, analytical and problem solving skills

    What will make you stand out:
    * 4- year degree or equivalent experience in accounting or a related field; or, (5) years professional accounting experience 
    * PeopleSoft, Microsoft Excel, Account Reconciliation Cloud Service (ARCS) or other reconciliation tools; such as Blackline
    * Ability to innovate and leverage technology for efficiencies and enhanced analytics
