Pay starting at 21/hr - based on experience 

Contract to Direct Hire 

Job Title:           Payroll Administrator
Department:         Administration/Corporate
Reports to:        Payroll & Benefits Manager/Human Resource Director/President and Integrator
FLSA Status:       Non-Exempt

Summary:  To effectively perform all the necessary payroll functions and payroll related functions, including compiling and recording payroll data and auditing and verifying all time keeping records of employees' hours worked as well as any and all necessary and/or required deductions required to comply with Company policy and state and federal law in order to ensure accurate payroll processing. Assists with Company benefits administration, including benefit enrollments. Works cross-departmentally between the Payroll department, Human Resource department, Accounting department and Operations department.  All areas described are representative of those areas that an employee may/will encounter while performing the essential functions of the job.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
 Essential Job Functions, Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintains payroll information by collecting, calculating, and entering data.
  • Assists the Payroll Manager in the management of the Company's timekeeping and payroll and human resource software modules, including processing status changes/personnel changes, i.e. that reflect a change in a schedule pattern, and notifying the appropriate supervisor of any issues, discrepancies, etc.
  • Ensure accuracy in employee transfers to and/or from departments and/or clubs.
  • Properly oversees the onboarding process and processes new hire paperwork/enters new hires in the Time and Attendance and Payroll systems; ensuring that all federal and state laws and regulations are complied with.  Properly follows up on any/all missing or inaccurate information in order to ensure accuracy and timeliness of payroll processing.
  • Assists with the calculation and distribution of labor reports, entering and tracking of payroll deductions, processing of garnishments, etc. in order to assist with the bi-weekly payroll processing.
  • Ensures that all information processed, reports generated, payroll processed (in the absence of the Payroll Manager), data entered, etc. is done accurately, completely and within the set time guidelines.
  • Assists with the accurate and timely reporting of all taxes (Federal, State, SUI & FUTA) to the Accounting department each pay cycle.
  • Ensures that all payroll deductions, garnishments, change of status', pay rate changes, etc. are handled promptly and accurately and in accordance with all state and federal laws and in conjunction with the Payroll Manager.
  • Record payroll data in the payroll software system and verify all amounts prior to payroll processing/cutting checks.
  • Properly process and follows up on all "payroll checks not cashed' in accordance with the Accounting department.
  • Assists with the preparation of manual checks for distribution to employees.
  • Assists with writing checks to the appropriate entity (i.e. the State of Michigan) for garnishments and support orders.
  • Maintains the Company Performance Review process; ensuring that all performance reviews are received from the clubs before or on their due date, and properly updates any and all necessary information in the Payroll and HR modules for each employee.
  • Assists with maintaining, monitoring and tracking the Company Paid Time Off accrual accounts for all full-time employees and updates PTO accrual accounts as needed.  Assists with properly managing the PTO accounts for all Comp
