OBGYN Perinatal Office Certified Medical Assistant
Job Summary: We are seeking a detail-oriented and compassionate Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to join our OBGYN Perinatal Office team. In this role, you will provide essential support to our healthcare providers in delivering exceptional care to pregnant women throughout their prenatal, antenatal, and postnatal journeys. Your responsibilities will include assisting with patient examinations, performing administrative tasks, and ensuring a positive patient experience from check-in to discharge.
Responsibilities:
- Assist OBGYN physicians and nurse practitioners in conducting prenatal visits and procedures, including patient assessments, vital signs monitoring, and specimen collection.
- Prepare examination rooms, ensuring cleanliness and stocking supplies for patient care.
- Educate patients on prenatal care, childbirth preparation, and postpartum recovery under the guidance of healthcare providers.
- Coordinate patient scheduling, including follow-up appointments, diagnostic tests, and referrals as directed by physicians.
- Document patient information accurately in electronic medical records (EMR), maintaining confidentiality and adhering to HIPAA guidelines.
- Perform administrative duties such as answering phones, scheduling appointments, and processing patient paperwork.
- Maintain medical equipment and instruments, ensuring they are sanitized and ready for use.
- Monitor and record patient medication and immunization administration as prescribed by healthcare providers.
- Assist in managing high-risk pregnancies by recognizing signs of complications and promptly notifying healthcare providers.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including nurses, social workers, and nutritionists, to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and continuing education to stay updated on perinatal care guidelines and best practices.
Requirements:
- Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA) from an accredited program.
- Minimum of [number] years of experience in a medical office setting, preferably in OBGYN or perinatal care.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, procedures, and EMR systems.
