Job Description

Overview:

The Director of Development, reporting to the Executive Director, plays a vital leadership role in fostering a culture of generosity within the organization. This position involves crafting a compelling case for support and communicating it to current and prospective donors and the broader community. The Director will collaborate with the Executive Director and the Board Development Committee to develop and execute fundraising and planned giving strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership & Culture:

    • Establish and maintain a culture of generosity.
    • Communicate a compelling case for support to engage donors and the community.
  • Strategy & Collaboration:

    • Work with the Executive Director and Board Development Committee to shape fundraising strategies.
    • Serve as the main interface with the Board Development Committee and work closely with key board members and the Executive Director.
  • Fundraising & Programs:

    • Lead and manage the annual giving campaign, major gift prospecting, stewardship and fundraising, planned giving, special events, and other fundraising programs.
  • Administration & Compliance:

    • Oversee all aspects of fundraising administration, including financial reporting, analysis, systems, and compliance.
  • Supervision:

    • Supervise the Senior Associate Director of Development, a grant writer, and a data entry professional.

    • Must have experience working in the non-profit sector.

    • A highly motivated and experienced development professional committed to the organization's mission.

    • Demonstrate dedication to the needs and aspirations of older adults, focusing on growing financial support for programs that serve this population.
  • Communication & Collaboration:

    • Possess excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively and strategically.

    • Be entrepreneurial, innovative, and focused on cultivating a culture of generosity.
  • Commitment:

    • Devote the necessary time, energy, and commitment to creating an exceptional development program that ensures ongoing financial support for the organization.
