Role Summary

The Human Resource Generalist is responsible for supporting managers and employees with a focus on employee relations, performance management, onboarding, training, recruiting, compensation administration, and policy implementation. This role involves resolving conflicts, providing coaching, offering problem-solving solutions, and guiding performance improvement plans. Strong interpersonal skills and a solid understanding of state and federal employment laws are essential.

Essential Job Duties

  • Act as the primary HR contact for employee questions about policies, communications, and initiatives.
  • Resolve day-to-day employee issues or conflicts and maintain appropriate documentation.
  • Manage and organize employee relations incidents and track trends.
  • Conduct timely investigations and assist in preparing disciplinary action recommendations.
  • Manage HR communications, including the HR email inbox.
  • Support recruiting by interviewing candidates and participating in onboarding activities.
  • Partner with teams on coaching and performance plans.
  • Conduct exit interviews, summarize findings, and discuss trends with leadership.
  • Assist in performance management training for managers and team members.
  • Help develop and update company policies and ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Recommend and follow best practices and current trends in HR operations.
  • Assist with audits and maintenance of team member data.
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state labor laws and regulations.
  • Support the HR team with miscellaneous projects and initiatives.

Education, Skills & Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in human resources.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of multi-state and national employment laws, especially CA state laws.
  • Ability to build relationships with diverse personalities and levels of seniority.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple deadlines.
  • Self-starter with enthusiasm for new projects.
  • Strong partnership-building skills across client groups.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office: Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel.
  • Occasional evening, holiday, and weekend work required.
  • Must be able to move around office spaces and occasionally lift up to 25 lbs.
