Job Title: Communications Intern

Duration of Internship: June 3-August 9 (10 weeks)

Location: Chesterfield, MO- Hybrid in office/work from home

Pays: $16/hour

Hours: 30-40/hours per week


Our team is seeking a dynamic Communications Intern to join us for an exciting opportunity. You will play a crucial role in supporting various communication initiatives aimed at enhancing the visibility of the industry and bolstering the reputation of the soybean checkoff and our organization.

What You Will Be Doing:

As a Communications Intern, you will be involved in a wide range of tasks including public relations, content creation, social media management, issues management, and media relations. You will collaborate with internal stakeholders, agency partners, and contractors on various projects related to promotion, education, and reputation management. Additionally, you will have the chance to assist with event planning, meeting logistics, and contribute to the development of our online platforms and internal communications.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Public Relations, Crisis, and Issues Management

* Assist in drafting press releases, pitching media outlets, compiling media lists, and creating social media content.

* Support crisis and issues management efforts by conducting research, drafting briefs, and identifying key stakeholders.

* Contribute content to our websites and internal newsletters.

Agency and Partner Relations

* Engage with agency partners and contractors on checkoff investment projects.

* Shadow internal functions and gain exposure to partner organizations.

Special Projects and Team Support

* Assist with meeting logistics and event planning.

* Support team members with various assignments utilizing communication tools.

* Prepare and present a capstone project showcasing your learning and insights.



* Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, Marketing, Advertising, Public Relations, or a related field.

Soft Skills:

* Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

* Detail-oriented with excellent organizational abilities.

* Proactive and dedicated to delivering quality work.

* Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

* Self-motivated with a strong work ethic.

Technical Skills:

* Proficient in Microsoft Office suite.

* Experience with communication tools such as SharePoint, Smartsheet, and Meltwater is a plus.

* Familiarity with media monitoring and analytics tools is advantageous.

* Quick learner with a knack for technology.
