Job Description

Our client is a leading medical services firm located in the Memorial City area of Houston. They are seeking a sharp, driven, experienced medical collector to join their growing team! This role comes with a great culture, room for growth, and quarterly bonuses based on performance!

Job Duties

  • Professionally represent client as client billing office
  • Adhere to defined department goals and activity metrics
  • Resolve accounts in denied, delinquent, and follow-up queues
  • Work high balances self-pay accounts for possible insurance or patient payment plans
  • Work or review aged AR to make final determination on the disposition
  • Post and resolve Zero pay ERAs, escalate patterns to management
  • Rebill accounts and communicate with insurance representative to resolve trends of non-payment, under- payment, or late payments
  • Research claims and refile/appeal as necessary (phone, paper, or online) based on review of coding, contractual issues (work with credentialing team), data entry errors, etc.
  • Monitor payer rejects and denials to determine systemic or data entry issues and report irregularities to management
  • Review and respond to faxes and take incoming patient calls and respond appropriately
  • Review the unbilled report and work accounts, resolve pre-submission issues, work bad addresses, and assist with Availity rejections, as needed
  • Review and understand LCDs with regard to CPT and diagnosis codes
  • Assess payor discount proposals
  • Comply with state/federal regulations and adhere to HIPAA and PHI guidelines
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • 3-5 years medical collections or applicable experience
  • Strong attention to detail, goal oriented
  • Commitment to superior customer service
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Team player
  • Prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities
  • Comfortable with computer use, online resources, and learning new software
