Job Description

  • Manage a team of 9 Staff Members to insure all claims fairly and timely resolved in accordance with Best Practices.
  • Identify process improvements which can be made in the department 
  • Conduct trainings, performance reviews, be an active member in the hiring process 
  • Review loss notices and ensure assignment to appropriate personnel.
  • Maintain diary on active files to ensure quality claim handling including timely and appropriate coverage determinations, timely and accurate reserving and appropriate plans of action in the handling of the claim.
  • Ensure appropriate processes and staffing are in place for timely and efficient resolutions of claims.
  • Manage Claims' response to industry CAT events and handle all required reporting for these events.
  • Review Reservation of Rights and Declination letters as appropriate.
  • Manage the relationships between our company and vendors utilized to assist in the adjustment of losses. Ensure that vendors are providing quality and efficient services and make changes to vendors as appropriate.
  • Recognize and report to Senior Management serious loss exposures.
  • Communicate with agents and underwriting on individual claim issues and work to resolve any potential questions. Communicate loss trends to underwriting as needed as well as recommendations for product improvement.
  • 5 + years of claims and/or supervisory experience 
  • Experience with Life Insurance, AD&D, and/ or Property & Casualty Claims is highly preferred 
  • Must be a hands-on leader who has an entrepreneurial spirit
