Job Description

The Senior System Engineer is responsible for the VMWare and Associated Technologies, with the following expectations:

  • VMware- VCP Certification (or equivalent experience)
  • Solid Experience with VMware - Installation, Configure, Support and Upgrades of VMware Infrastructure Solutions 4.x through 6.x; In-depth knowledge of Horizon View VDI, vSphere, vCenter, vCloud, VCF, NSX, vRealizeOperations, vRealizeAutomation and other Enterprise VMware products
  • Experience with VMware Auto Deploy (tftp, dhcp etc)
  • Design, configure and manage ESXi clusters with HA and DRS
  • Knowledge of VMware - health assessments in regards to performance, utilization and best practices
  • VMwarePowerCLI scripting and automation for deployments
  • vRealize Operations - Create custom dashboards, reports, policies for performance tuning and troubleshooting of the environment.
  • Networking - Install, Configure and Support Switching and Routing
  • Storage - SAN knowledge, as it relates to setting up and configuring an ESX environment
  • Solid knowledge of Dell Server & blades and Windows/Linux OS
  • Experience with P2V, V2V, and V2P migrations
  • Familiar with Microsoft products (Active Directory, Exchange, SQL, Exchange, IIS, SharePoint)
  • Understanding of VMware platform engineering, including security
  • Ability to develop virtualization tower roadmaps, plan, and implement both short and long-term goals
  • Lead proof of concept efforts for leading technologies in virtualization and container based platforms.
  • Post-Implementation Training/Knowledge Transfer with the other members in the team
  • Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Effective organizational skills and excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Must be organized, flexible, proactive and must possess a high level of attention to detail
  • Solid troubleshooting skills are a must
  • Must possess excellent verbal and interpersonal skills as this position will involve working closely with end user customers, both on and offsite
  • Must be able to work professionally in a team environment
  • Bachelor's Degree (BA) or five plus year's related experience and /or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

Special Considerations given to candidates with the following:
  • Knowledge and experience with Hyperconverged solutions
  • Knowledge and experience with Docker, Containers, Kubernetes
  • Knowledge with Microsoft Azure IaaS management
