We are seeking a Senior EHS Specialist who will play a pivotal role in managing our site's environmental health and safety programs. In this role, you will have the chance to work on impactful projects, improve compliance tools, and enhance overall site performance.

Position Title: Environmental Safety Manager

Company: A leading industrial organization in Sauget, Illinois

Salary: $125-140K (DOE)

Job Summary:

The Environmental Safety Manager is responsible for overseeing and implementing environmental, health, and safety (EHS) activities to ensure compliance with regulations and promote sustainability. This role focuses on managing waste management/water programs and sustainability, driving improvements in air, water, waste, and energy, and supporting conformance with PSM (Process Safety Management) and RC (Responsible Care) standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage waste management/water program and sustainability efforts, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and controlling compliance costs.
  • Ensure environmental programs comply with state, federal, and local regulations, providing technical expertise in these areas.
  • Identify and drive sustainability improvements in air, water, waste, and energy.
  • Prepare, submit, and maintain required records, permits, and reports in accordance with established guidelines by local, state, and federal agencies and corporate guidelines.
  • Support conformance with PSM and RC standards.
  • Assist plant operations and technical services in process troubleshooting, project reviews, change management, and other areas.

Education & Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical or Environmental Engineering.
  • Master's degree and/or Certified Safety Professional is a plus.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in an industrial or chemical industry environment.
  • Minimum 4 years of environmental/regulatory experience.

Skills/Abilities:

  • Knowledge of plant engineering, process engineering, and process safety management.
  • Familiarity with OSHA PSM and EPA RMP requirements.
  • Understanding of state and federal regulatory laws.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in EHS applications like Gensuite.
  • Clear, concise, and effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to handle several projects and tasks simultaneously.
  • Effective organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to pay attention to minute details.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, SAP, and Gensuite.
