Job Description

DESCRIPTION: We are currently looking for a Full-time experienced Medical Biller for our practices around the Raleigh area. This is an intermediate level position that can perform in accurately entering data, specifically posting payments and charge entry, verifying insurance information and maintaining patient records independently with minimal help from the manager.

Key Responsibilities:

* Reviewing medical evaluations and office notes as documented by providers.

* Transmitting coded patient treatment information to payers and other recipients.

* Coordinating insurance reimbursement of care providers.

* Receiving patient treatment codes to use in assembling reimbursement claims.

* Processes billings to patients and third-party reimbursement claims.

* Processes patient statements, keys data, posts transactions, and verifies the accuracy of input to reports generated.

* Researches and responds by telephone and in writing to patient inquiries regarding billing issues and problems.

* Follows up on submitted claims; monitors unpaid claims, and resubmits claims as necessary. 

* Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned. 


Required Software Skills:

Must have experience with an EMR software (Electronic Medical Records). 

Knowledge of ICD 10 is required as is a comfort level with the electronic medical record and electronic billing systems. 

Knowledge of Medicaid, and commercial insurance is a plus.

Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED), continued education in medical billing, coding and credentialing preferred with at least 5 years of experience in billing and collections.

Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence.

Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to clients and other employees of the organization.

Certification: Preferred certification from a course in Medical Coding. Willing to attend continuing education courses at the request of the employer.
