Estimator 2904

Salary range: $70K to $120K

The estimator will prepare budgets and estimates as well as pre-bid packages.

Key Responsibilities

  • Obtains and evaluates subcontractor bids, scopes of work, and reviewing project plans and specifications for various categories of work, both large and small, with estimators and project management teams.
  • Leads the Estimating Team in executing the entire estimate process.
  • Determines scope of work by analyzing drawings and specifications
  • Estimates full scope
  • Understanding risks and opportunities in bid documents and communicating them to management
  • Provides leadership and direction to the bid team, including means, methods, schedule, and strategy
  • Provides technical support for Alternative Delivery projects
  • Provides detailed quantity takeoffs for specific trades
  • Provides detailed crew and production cost estimates and reviews prices
  • Obtains and analyzes subcontractor and vendor pricing
  • Participates in pre-bid meetings, site tours, and post-bid interviews
  • Calculates unit costs
  • Review of technical/plans
  • Plan and assess takeoff workload accurately
  • Maintains project cost history, monitoring actual vs. estimated
  • Maintains subcontractor database and prequalification process.
  • Develops and maintains effective relationships with customers, design team, subcontractors, suppliers, and user groups that reflect and support company values
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Construction estimator experience
  • Project management and accounting knowledge
  • Data analysis, estimation metrics, and research methodology
  • Tech-savvy and comfortable with numbers
  • Expertise in bid software
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills

You need:

  • Experience in the construction of roads, asphalt, concrete, and road paving
  • A minimum of 10 years' experience in construction/estimating/operations.
  • An undergraduate degree in engineering, construction science or a related field or equivalent experience is required
  • Reading architectural plans and estimating costs
  • Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, AutoCAD, and Takeoff Software knowledge
  • Commercial construction knowledge is required
  • 100% Onsite
